About Penneshaw Campus

Penneshaw Campus is the smallest campus within Kangaroo Island Community Education, with approximately 70 students from Reception to Year 8. Located in the town of Penneshaw, the main port and gateway to Kangaroo Island, the campus plays a vital role in our community.

To support Year 9–12 students, we offer a dedicated school bus service to Kingscote Campus, ensuring all Kangaroo Island students have access to ongoing educational opportunities.

Our facilities and resources at Penneshaw Campus are designed to connect students with their local environment as well as the wider world. Our experienced mainstream and specialist staff deliver programs aligned with all areas of the Curriculum. We actively utilise Kangaroo Island’s unique environment, weaving it into both classroom and outdoor learning, with support from our local community.

We hold fortnightly assemblies to ensure every member of our Penneshaw Campus community has a voice and feels a strong sense of belonging. As a small campus, students have many opportunities to develop their presentation and public speaking skills, helping build their confidence.

We are proud of our strong connections with the local community. Our Recreation Centre hosts sporting clubs for training and events, and our staff and students participate in community projects ranging from the sculpture trail to revegetation initiatives.

The campus features beautiful and spacious grounds, including a thriving kitchen garden and fruit trees. Students help grow and harvest produce, which is integrated into hands-on learning through the Technologies Curriculum.
